“Momentum” by Tia Lian at Drawing Cabaret Couture
Last Thursday the Drawing Cabaret Couture session featured the “Momentum” project by fashion designer Tia Lian: feminist clothes inspired by martial arts in a mix of femininity and strength. I drew in different moments because times are short before the Christmas holidays and I could not stay for two consecutive hours, and for this reason the models are also different: the first illustrations portray Olive Harley, the last Janet Mayer.
Giovedì scorso c’è stata la sessione di Drawing Cabaret Couture con il progetto “Momentum” della stilista Tia Lian: abiti femministi, ispirati alle arti marziali in un incontro di femminilità e forza. Ho disegnato in diversi momenti perché i tempi stringono prima delle feste natalizie e non potevo seguire due ore di sessione consecutive, e per questo anche le modelle sono diverse: le prime illustrazioni ritraggono Olive Harley, l’ultima Janet Mayer.
For the last illustration, which I also sent to magazines for publication, I couldn’t make up my mind on the background color: the original background of the set was similar to the winter colors above, so white and grey. However, I wanted to try to give a twist to the illustration with a colourful and contrasting background. So I created four versions in Procreate and asked my followers on Facebook and Instagram to help me choose:
Per l’ultima illustrazione, che ho inviato anche a dei magazine per la pubblicazione, non sapevo decidermi sul colore dello sfondo: lo sfondo originale del set era simile ai colori invernali qui sopra, quindi bianco e grigio. Tuttavia volevo provare a dare un twist al soggetto dell’illustrazione con uno sfondo colorato e contrastante. Quindi ho creato quattro versioni in Procreate e ho chiesto ai miei follower su Facebook e Instagram di aiutarmi a scegliere:
