Life drawing at Atelier 17.4 with model Bea

Every now and then, I return to Italy for a few days, and in the past, I’ve tried to join a drawing session while there. But somehow, they always seem to take place the week before or after I arrive. This time, though, I managed to make it happen, thanks to my friend Ale. Can you believe it had been since the 1990s that I hadn’t drawn a model from life in Italy? Incredible, right?

The session was facilitated by artist Lory Ginedumont at Studio 17.4 in Genoa. Beatrice posed for us with medium to long poses, ranging from 15 to 35 minutes. I worked with charcoal and soft pastels (yes, I left the sweaters behind to make room in my suitcase!) on coloured straw paper.

Ogni tanto torno in Italia per qualche giorno, e già in passato avevo provato a inserirmi in qualche sessione di disegno, ma ogni volta si tengono la settimana prima o quella dopo rispetto al mio arrivo. Questa volta invece sono riuscita, anche grazie al mio amico Ale. Era dagli anni ’90 che non disegnavo un* modell* dal vero in Italia, non è incredibile?

La sessione è stata facilitata dall’artista Lory Ginedumont allo studio 17.4 di Genova. Ha posato per noi Beatrice con pose medio-lunghe, dai 15 ai 35 minuti. Ho lavorato a carboncino e pastelli morbidi (esatto, ho lasciato i maglioni e li ho fatti entrare in valigia!) su carta paglia colorata.
