Courtney – Profile portrait with charcoal and soft pastels

Portrait of Courtney with soft pastels and charcoal on coloured paper. Two hours of pose (it was three hours but I was late), I added the flowers at the end after seeing them in the garden during the cigarette break. Incredible how I went from hating profile portraits to liking them. The profile offers a precision – almost schematic – and line work that other poses do not offer.

Due ore di posa (sarebbero tre, ma sono arrivata in ritardo), i fiori li ho aggiunti io all’ultimo dopo averli visti in giardino durante la pausa sigaretta. Incredibile come io sia passata dall’odio per i ritratti di profilo all’averci preso gusto. Il profilo offre una precisione – quasi schematica – e un lavoro di linea che le altre pose non offrono.
