AGRINI – My interview on NVTV by Jamie Finlay

Never, never, never would I have thought that filming an interview could actually be fun. I’m not generally a person for video, nor for long speeches: I’m not particularly shy, but I definitely wouldn’t go looking for the centre of attention. And if we add the fact that I live in a foreign country, ergo when I speak, most of the time I’m doing it in my second language with a distinctly non-local accent, well, I’d say that closes the circle and it’s easy to understand why I don’t seek the spotlight. However, when Jamie Finlay explained his idea to me and asked if I’d like to collaborate, I thought: why not? And so we found ourselves filming in my old studio (old because Belfast City Council kicked us out in February and despite the promises still hasn’t given us another space — in the meantime my materials are held hostage in the old building, and they’ve even taken back my keys) for a whole day, between painted canvases, cleaning brushes, various chats and a visit to the city’s rooftops. It was a lovely day and a different way to spend time with a dear friend and fellow artist.

Then months and months went by, between editing and various versions, and the composition of the music, created by the brilliant Tron Bison of the Devoted Sinners project. And now, eight months later, here it finally is, finished and published on NVTV Belfast’s official channel. You can watch it below:

Mai, mai, mai avrei pensato che filmare un’intervista potesse essere addirittura divertente. Non sono una persona da video in genere, nè da lunghi discorsi: non sono particolarmente timida, ma decisamente non andrei a cercare il centro dell’attenzione. Se poi ci mettiamo che vivo in un paese straniero, ergo quando parlo la maggior parte del tempo lo faccio nella mia seconda lingua con un accento molto poco local, ecco, direi che il cerchio si chiude e si capisce molto facilmente come io non cerchi la luce dei riflettori. Tuttavia, quando Jamie Finlay mi ha spiegato la sua idea e mi ha chiesto se volessi collaborare, ho pensato: perché no? E così ci siamo trovati a filmare nel mio vecchio studio (vecchio perché il Belfast City Council ci ha sbattuto fuori a febbraio e nonostante le promesse ancora non ci ha dato un altro spazio – nel frattempo il mio materiale è in ostaggio nel vecchio palazzo, di cui mi hanno ritirato anche le chiavi) per una giornata intera, tra tele dipinte, pennelli da pulire, chiacchiere varie e una visita sui tetti della città. È stata una bella giornata e un modo diverso per passare del tempo con un amico caro nonchè collega artista.

Poi sono passati mesi e mesi, tra montaggio e versioni varie, e la composizione delle musiche, create dal bravissimo Tron Bison del progetto Devoted Sinners. E ora, a distanza di otto mesi, finalmente eccolo concluso e pubblicato sul canale ufficiale di NVTV Belfast. Potete guardarlo qui sotto:
